DESCRIPTION:The stadium dedication of Harvester Field at Zach Thomas Stadium and the first home game of the season for the Pampa Harvesters.\n\n \nPAMPA ISD TO HONOR ZACH THOMAS\n\nPampa ISD Renames Stadium Zach Thomas Stadium\n\n \n\nPampa\, TX\, August 31\, 2024- Pampa ISD will officially honor Zach Thomas on Friday\, September 6\, 2024\, at the first home football game for the Harvesters. A ceremony to recognize Zach Thomas and his achievements during his high school\, college\, and professional football career will be held at 6:35 p.m. at the stadium. Zach will be present for the unveiling of the new scoreboard\, a plaque honoring his achievements\, and the naming ceremony.\n\n \n\nZach Thomas\, former Pampa Harvester\, Texas Tech Red Raider\, and Miami Dolphin was inducted as the 370th member of the 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame. A 1992 graduate of Pampa High School\, Zach made First Team All-State as a senior\, rushed for 928 yards\, made 8 touchdowns\, 158 tackles\, 6 sacks\, 5 forced fumbles\, 3 recovered fumbles\, and 8 pass break-ups. He went on to play for Texas Tech and was drafted in the 1996 NFL Draft by the Miami Dolphins.\n\n \n\nThomas was inducted into the Pampa High School Hall of Fame\, the Panhandle Sports Hall of Fame\, the Texas High School Sports Hall of Fame\, the Texas Tech Athletics Hall of Fame\, the College Football Hall of Fame\, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame.\n\n \n\nZach Thomas is only the 36th Texas high school football player honored by the Pro Football Hall of Fame\, making Pampa High School one of 28 Texas high schools where a hall of famer once walked the halls. "It's humbling\, but as you know\, it's a team game. You are only as good as what's around you. It was a dream. No one really believed me when I said I wanted to play in the NFL\, but I believed in myself. I am just proud to represent all of the people who helped me along the way\," Zach Thomas\n\n \n\nOn August 28\, 2023\, in appreciation and recognition of Zach Thomas and his service to the Pampa ISD community\, the Pampa ISD Board of Trustees formally named the stadium at Harvester Field "Zach Thomas Stadium."
